With over thirty permanent exhibits, and over five thousand square feet, the Pamlico County Museum and Heritage Center portrays late1800 and early 1900 life in Pamlico County.  Many exhibits focus on the three economic bases in Pamlico County - farming, fishing and forestry.  The Barbara Kerr Genealogy Room provides volunteers available to assist with family heritage research and projects.  The Heritage Village contains a fully functioning blacksmith shop which is open and working on special occasions, a one-room school and abarber shop.  A covered pavilion offers a great place to have a picnic or other outdoor event.  Hours of operation are Tuesday -Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and after hours or weekends by appointment.  Visitors, including school and senior groups, are always welcome and admission is free.
